Welcome! We’re so glad you’re here. Whether you’re considering booking an appointment or just curious about what we do, we’ve answered some common questions to help you feel at ease.

  • DesPsychology is all about understanding how we think, feel, and behave. Psychologists work with people to navigate challenges, build skills, and find ways to live happier, more fulfilling lives. If you or someone you care about is feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure, psychology can help provide clarity and support.cription text goes here

  • I offer a variety of services to help children, teens, adults, and families, including:

    • Assessments: For things like ADHD, autism, or learning difficulties.

    • Therapy: To work through challenges like anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or behaviour.

    • Parent Support: Helping caregivers better understand and support their kids.

    • Workshops and Resources: Tools and tips for parents, teachers, and individuals.

  • No referral? No problem! You can book directly with us. But if you’d like to claim Medicare rebates, you’ll need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP.

  • A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is a referral from your GP that helps you access mental health services with Medicare rebates.

    • Initial sessions: Your GP can refer you for up to 6 sessions initially.

    • Review: After these, you’ll need to visit your GP for a review. If you need more support, they can approve up to 4 additional sessions.

    • Yearly limit: You can access 10 sessions per calendar year under an MHCP.

If you feel you need more than 10 sessions, we can discuss private options or explore support through private health insurance.

  • With an MHCP, you can claim rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. These are usually broken into:

    • 6 sessions initially

    • Up to 4 more sessions after a review with your GP

If you need ongoing support beyond the 10 sessions, we’ll work with you to explore other options.

  • My standard session fee is $240 per hour.

    Some rebates may be available:

    • Medicare Rebates: If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate, which can reduce the out-of-pocket cost.

    • Private Health Insurance: Depending on your policy, private health insurance may also cover part of the cost.

I’m committed to ensuring that financial difficulties don’t prevent you from accessing the care you need. If you’re struggling to afford mental health services, please contact me to discuss flexible options or alternative resources.

  • The first session is all about getting to know you! We’ll chat about what’s been going on, what you hope to work on, and what you want to achieve. For kids, I try to make things as relaxed and comfortable as possible – maybe even a little fun!

  • Most sessions run for about 50–60 minutes. If we’re doing an assessment, we might need a bit longer, but I’ll let you know in advance.

  • It depends on you! Some people feel good after a few sessions, while others like to keep working on things longer. I’ll like to check in regularly to make sure you’re happy with the progress and on track to meet your goals.

  • Absolutely. Your privacy is really important to us. The only exceptions are if we’re legally required to share information (like if someone is in danger). We’ll go through this in more detail during your first session, so there are no surprises.

  • Yes, I do! Whether you’re at home, at work, or in another part of Australia, we can meet online. It’s convenient and just as effective as face-to-face sessions for many people.

  • The relationship you have with your psychologist is super important. In the first session, we’ll work together to see if we’re a good match. If it doesn’t feel quite right, that’s okay – we can help connect you with someone else who might be a better fit.

  • Just yourself! If you have any paperwork (like a referral or past reports), bring that along too. And don’t worry – I’ll send you all the info you need before your first session.

  • Yes, I work with people of all ages from 5 years and up! Whether it’s assessments, therapy, or support for parents, we’re here to help families navigate life’s challenges together.

  • It really depends on what you’re looking for:

    • A psychologist can help with therapy for mental health issues like anxiety, depression, or behaviour challenges.

    • A psychiatrist can prescribe medication or help with complex mental health concerns.

    • A counsellor is a great option if you need someone to talk to about life’s challenges or transitions.

Still unsure if a Psychologist is the right fit for you? Book a free 15m phone call with me to discuss any questions you might have.

  • The cost of an assessment depends on the type and complexity of the evaluation. Assessments typically include initial consultations, testing sessions, scoring, interpretation, and a comprehensive report with recommendations.

    Here’s a general breakdown:

    • Neurodevelopmental Assessments (e.g., ADHD, ASD): [Insert cost range or pricing model]

    • Cognitive Assessments (e.g., IQ testing): [Insert cost range or pricing model]

    • Learning Assessments (e.g., dyslexia, specific learning difficulties): [Insert cost range or pricing model]

We’ll provide a detailed quote during your initial inquiry, so there are no surprises. Medicare and private health rebates may apply to certain aspects of the assessment – we’re happy to guide you through these options.

For more details about our assessments, visit our Assessment Services page.

  • I understand that life can be unpredictable, and sometimes appointments need to be rescheduled or cancelled. Here’s how our cancellation policy works:

    • Notice Period: I kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

    • Late Cancellations: If you cancel within less than 24 hours or do not attend your appointment, a cancellation fee of 100% of the session cost ($240) may apply.

    • Exceptions: understand that emergencies happen. If unforeseen circumstances arise, please let me know as soon as possible, and I’ll do our best to accommodate.

Providing 24 hours’ notice allows me to offer your appointment time to someone on the waitlist.
